Quebec Retina Biobank

The Quebec Retina Biobank is the first of its kind in Quebec, providing invaluable access to ocular fluids from patients with diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and other major retinal pathologies. These samples, obtained with the patients’ consent during surgeries performed at the CHU de Québec by the retinologist in charge, Dr. Dirani, pave the way for crucial research. The analysis of these fluids could lead to the discovery of new biomarkers and a better understanding of the degeneration mechanisms that cause the loss of retinal function, thus contributing to significant therapeutic advances.
