MISSION
The Vision Restoration Summer School focuses on new concepts and cutting-edge research in vision biology, recovery of function, and restoration. World class faculty will provide insights into a broad range of current topics including corneal regeneration, dry eye and pain, retinal circuit and function, stem cells and photoreceptor replacement strategies, ganglion cell regeneration, vascular dysfunction, brain and perception, vision rehabilitation, and retinal prosthetics.
Our mission comprises three (3) main objectives:
- To train the next generation of vision scientists by exposing them to inspiring topics in an immersive environment;
- To provide extensive possibilities for student-faculty interactions and networking;
- To enhance the ability of students to pursue a successful career in vision science.

TARGET AUDIENCE AND SELECTION PROCESS
This advanced school is aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows. Students from Canada and abroad are invited to apply.
There are a limited number of spaces available at the summer school. Selection, conducted by the organizing committee, will be based on the quality of the abstract and motivation statement (submitted for registration, deadline: extension until June 1st, 2022.
Students will be informed of the results of the selection process by June 15, 2022
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The summer school will take place over 2 and 1/2 days (3 nights), (July 25th to 28th, inclusive). In all, 10 guest speakers (international and local) will give 1-hour lectures each. All presentations will be given in English. Participants must present a poster on their research, and among these, 6 will be selected by the organizing committee to be presented orally (10 minutes maximum).

PRESENTATION DETAILS
There will be 4 Student Presentation Sessions. The oral presentations (flash talks) were selected from the poster session presented the day before. From all the posters, twelve (12) presenters have been selected by the Scientific Committee to make an oral presentation. Selected participants will receive their confirmation by Monday, July 4.
- Tuesday, July 26, 2022 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Session 1: Poster Presentation (odd numbers)
- Wednesday, July 27, 2022 – 11:00 am – 12:00 pm – Session 2: Flash talks by students (from Poster Session 1)
- Wednesday, July 27, 2022 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Session 3: Poster presentations (even numbers)
- Thursday, July 28, 2022 – 11:00 am – 12:00 pm – Session 4: Flash talks by students (from Poster Session 3)
The POSTER presentation is mandatory for all participant (even for participants who have been selected for an oral presentation). Your presentation number will be provided during the week of July 4. The poster sizes are as follows :
- WIDTH: 41 inches (104 cm)
- HEIGHT: 38 inches (96 cm)
Every Flash talks are limited to 5 min + 5 min Q&A.

We are happy to welcome you to Le Baluchon, an ecologically minded resort, in the heart of the Mauricie region overlooking the Rivière-du-Loup. Renowned for its enchanting decor, historic character, farm-to-table gastronomy, and outstanding service, Le Baluchon – Éco-villégiature is a choice par excellence for our summer school. Its unique location offers a variety of outdoor activities in a beautiful natural setting (hiking, swimming, kayaking, horseback riding, achery, etc.). Every student will have to share a room with another student. The Organizing Committee will establish the pairing.

TRANSPORTATION TO VENUE
ROUND TRIP
All participants are asked to arrive to Montreal in the morning or early afternoon on July 25th, 2020. A bus has been arranged to take participants to Le Baluchon, scheduled to depart the Berri/UQAM bus station at 4:00 pm. The bus is scheduled to arrive at Le Baluchon around 6 pm in time for check-in and a welcome reception followed by dinner.
The school will conclude on July 28th right after lunch, and a bus is scheduled to take participants back to Montreal.
