Common Infrastructure Program

The goal of the Common Infrastructure (CI) program is to offer RRSV researchers resources and work tools accessible to all that they would not otherwise have been able to afford, in order to promote vision research in Quebec. The IFs supported by the RRSV have become essential to the operation of several laboratories in the Network. Their impact is undeniable in terms of scientific publications, conference presentations and grants. The Visual Impairment & Rehabilitation Database has notably helped to influence the policy for distributing low vision care in Quebec. This program is considered one of the most useful and effective.

Grant

$30,000

Financial support for a common infrastructure is granted for one year. The maximum budget allocated per infrastructure is $30,000. Upon demonstration of high performance, the amount allocated may be higher. In all cases, the amount of the grants will depend on the availability of funds. This funding is renewable upon submission of a duly completed renewal application (the scientific report is now included in the renewal application).

The goal of the common infrastructure program is to offer Network researchers resources and work tools that are accessible to all and that they would not have been able to afford otherwise, in order to promote vision research in Quebec.

The common infrastructures supported by the VSRN have become essential to the operation of several VSRN laboratories. Their impact is undeniable in terms of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts of presentations at provincial, national and international conferences and grants. The results of research based on the use of these banks have also made it possible on several occasions to strategically influence the transfer of knowledge and the implementation of new practices. The Visual Impairment & Rehabilitation Database has notably helped to influence the policy for distributing low vision care in Quebec. The Common Infrastructure Program is considered to be the most useful and efficient of the RRSV programs and most resources are being mobilized to ensure that it continues to be so.

In the case of a clinical, genetic or tissue database or register, endorsement by the Ethics Committee of the institution responsible for the bank or register is a mandatory and essential prerequisite for any access and/or use of the data in this bank or register.
